We’re glad you’ve decided to join FPA. The yearly Membership Application fee is $65 adults and $25 students per year. Membership discounts are offered in conjunction with registration for educational events, such as the Spring Conference, Fall Ed-U-Conference and the President’s Book Awards.
If you wish to be considered for a active position on the Board of Directors of the Florida Authors & Publishers Association, Inc., return a completed Board Member Application (including attachments) and a current JPG image of yourself to the Nominating Committee for ballot preparation. Confirm your information on the FAPA website is accurate and complete. Board Member Application deadline is Friday, October 18.
The Vendor Membership Application fee is $99/yr. Vendor Membership discounts are offered in conjunction with registration for educational events, such as the Spring Conference and Fall Ed-U-Conference. 1. Educational Conferences
Each year FAPA holds two educational conferences, a Spring Conference and a two day Fall Conference. Both conferences strive to present up-to-date, cutting-edge information in the ever-changing publishing industry. The conferences are held in various locations around the state of Florida, hoping all members will have the opportunity to conveniently attend one of them.
2. The FAPA Engaging Members Newsletter
The FAPA Engaging Members Newsletter is a valuable source of information for publishers, authors and vendors. Past issues of this periodic publication can be viewed HERE. Members are encouraged to submit news about their books, events, and special projects. Items should be submitted to the VP of Member Services at: email@example.com.
3. Marketing Opportunities
Each member is encouraged to provide information about themselves, their business, and their books on their Member Profile. Book cover images can be uploaded to their profile page. FAPA members may also link their blog on our Member Blogs page.
4. Annual President’s Book Awards Competition
The FAPA President’s Book Awards were created in 2005. The competition is open to authors and publishers nationwide, and recognizes book publishing excellence and creativity in design, content and production for North American authors and publishers. Membership in FAPA is not a requirement to enter.

6. IBPA Affiliate Scholarship Program
Our affiliate, Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), generously offers FAPA members the opportunity to apply for a scholarship to its annual Publishing University, often held in conjunction with BookExpo America. The scholarship details vary each year, but generally cover tuition for the full, two-day Publishing University. FAPA offers a stipend to help defray travel and lodging costs.
A call for applicants is issued just before the first of the year. Applicants’ companies must be members of both IBPA and FAPA, and the individuals must be integral employees or owners of the publishing company. An application must be completed and submitted to FAPA. The IBPA Board makes the final selection of scholarship recipients. The IBPA Board makes the final selection of scholarship recipients.
FAPA requires that scholarship recipients share the information they learn with FAPA’s membership by writing articles for the FAPA Engaging Members Newsletter and giving a presentation at the FAPA Publishing Ed-U-Conference.
7. FAPA Available to Answer Publishing Questions
There’s no reason to go it alone in publishing when you’re a member of FAPA. Many members have found that the best membership benefit is the ability to email FAPA Staff with publishing questions. We offer quick, industry-standard answers; when we don’t know the answer, we find someone who does!
